For festivals and otherwise: The love called plum cake

During Christmas, a common find in every household is a boxful of plum cake which are devoured with equal love and craving by everybody from eight to eighty. Plum cakes are very common cakes, made in every household especially during Christmas, These cakes are also the most sold cakes during Christmas since people queue for long hours just to buy a plum cake and make the holiday season more special. Plum cakes are symbols of celebration and festivity and children love plum cakes since they come in decorated packets with a smiling Santa glowing over the cake. So devouring a plum cake is itself an act of festivity!
A plum cake is very simple to make, a reason why most people attach the cake with festivals as there are no hassles to make plum cakes. Eggs, sugar, vanilla essence, flour and plums are the basic ingredients and since all of these are available in markets all over, making a plum cake is not at all a difficult. All one needs is an oven to bake the cake well and ensure that the cake does not get burnt, though a bit on the burnt side actually tastes quite well. The cake is a favorite among people of all ages and since it is easy to make without any hassles, the cake is made frequently.
Like various dishes, a plum cake has also become global, though its origins remain unknown. Plum cakes have been so popular all over the world, and have been a perfect accompaniment for coffee because plum cakes are not heavy as such and contain general cake related ingredients which ensure that the taste is intact but the richness of the cake is not tampered with. Plum cakes do not have cream or chocolates and hence are consumed as a light accompaniment.
Plum cakes have been traditionally associated with celebration and festivals, especially Christmas. Christmas without a plum cake is almost a never to happen thing since plum cakes are not only easy to made but also very affordable when bought from cake shops. The huge queues during Christmas are proof that plum cakes have still not lost either their popularity or their taste. These cakes are usually consumed during the build up to Christmas as a reminiscence of the fact that the festival is approaching. Richly decorated plum cakes give a feeling of joy as a very look at it ensures satisfaction.
Plum cakes are also accompaniments for tea, especially in British culture. A plum cake is served along with tea in elite British cultures since it is a perfect symbol for companionship. Also plum cakes are easily available and easy to make at home as is tea, hence it is almost a tradition to make plum cakes and stock them so that whenever a guest arrives, plum cakes are served as accompaniments with tea. Though the concept of a plum cake has been commercialized now, the aroma of homemade plum cakes in the evening is something no packaged plum cakes can ever come close to.
